Original Oil painting. The Gravediggers is a unique and legendary pub in Glasnevin, Dublin. The gate on the left is the old entrance to Glasnevin Cemetery, where over 1.5m people are buried, - keeping Gravediggers busy and thirsty over the years! The Cemetery was founded by Daniel O’Connell in 1832, and the Gravediggers pub opened in 1833. Imagine the amount of stories that have been told over almost 200 years where these tow renowned institutions meet.
The warm lights in the window are reflected in the wet road outside. You can almost hear the clink of glasses,….it would be very hard to pass the open doorway, and not pop in.
The painting is 30 × 25 cm approx, and the white wooden frame is 50 × 45 cm approx.
Framed prints are also available on this site.
